I'm an adult student and I have enjoyed guitar, piano, and vocal lessons with Dan for seven years and could not be happier! My 4th grader has been taking uke lessons with Dan for about a year, and Dan also played the piano at my wedding! Clearly, I'm a Dan fan!
Dan is so knowledgeable about a variety of instruments and vocals, and he can tailor his instruction to a student's needs -- age, skill level, instrument, strengths and weaknesses, goals, learning style. For me, given my busy schedule, Dan is flexible in what we do each lesson, the pace and focus. There's also a broader sense of music appreciation I value as an adult -- how the things I'm learning fit in their historical context and connect to other music.
It is a joy to work with Dan to take a piece and translate it into a solo guitar or piano project, to move it around on the instrument to suit my voice, and to add our own touches to it. Our projects have a huge range of styles: Bossa, Rock, Broadway Musicals, Italian Arias, Folk, you name it.
For my daughter, Dan provides structure and support appropriate for a youngster, with focus on the instrument and on skill building. She's become a terrific uke player and she's in an ensemble so Dan works with her in between her ensemble lessons.
I highly recommend Dan as a music teacher -- whatever your level, whatever your instrument, whatever your age!

Dan has been teaching piano to my son this year, who has been making steady progress and having fun!
Dan has the rare combination of an easy-going, friendly personality combined with the ability to talk about music, learning, and development in very precise terms with adults and in digestible bits with children.
He is easy to communicate with both about scheduling and lesson plans, and he comes to our home for weekly lessons - a huge source of excitement and a great motivator to practice for the all-important sticker selection.
Dan gives the kids praise for jobs well done and redirects effortlessly when something needs correction without ever making children feel bad. In fact, he helps them embrace the process of making mistakes for the purpose of continued self-improvement - something applicable to all of life's endeavors.
We are really happy to have Dan in our family's lives and are happy to support him as an artist/small business.

Dan has been teaching my twin girls how to play the ukulele for the past four years since they were six years old.
Dan strikes a perfect balance between being too strict and too relaxed in his style and teaching methods.
He makes his lessons fun, interesting and engaging where my kids become self-motivated to want to practice and play on their own.
I highly recommend Dan as a music teacher.
